Women's Leadership Training

Women's Leadership Training

African Women’s Leadership Training rallies around female leaders in Rwanda who have been selected to participate in the ALARM Women's Leadership Training Institute (WLTI).

When leaders are equipped and empowered to be servant leaders they become agents of reconciliation, peace building and community transformation. Not only are individual lives being transformed the impact encompasses families, churches, communities and spreads throughout the entire country.

It is a fact that transformed leaders pour themselves into the lives of others— bringing hope and healing to the people and places they serve.

Phase I was completed in August 2018 when 54 leaders from different denominations and tribes representing each province in Rwanda graduated from the Women's Leadership Training Institute (WLTI). This cohort gathered two to three times a year, over a three year cycle and successfully completed course work in understanding of the Bible, theology, discipleship, leadership, trauma recovery and counseling, conflict resolution, economic empowerment and community development. These women are now using their newly developed skills and knowledge to lead, train, disciple and mentor other men and women.

Phase I Stats

  • 55 leaders represented 40 churches, 14 denominations from all give provinces in Rwanda

  • 54 of the 55 WLTI participants completed the course work and graduated. One WLTI participant died a few weeks before graduation from an illness.

  • Some graduates have been promoted to pastoral and leadership roles.

  • 25 individuals traveled to Rwanda and assisted in facilitating the WLTI training over the three years.

Phase II is about multiplying the impact of the WLTI by equipping and empowering a select group of WLTI graduates.

  • A group of 25 WLTI graduates will become Trainers of Trainers (TOT). They are being selected based on their character, capacity, competence and connections. They will participate in 2 training conferences (March and August 2019).

  • The 25 TOT will form 5 Regional WLTI Training Teams. Upon completing the training the teams will be commissioned and certified to facilitate a Regional WLTI in their respective provinces over a 3 year period.

  • The impact of the WLTI will exponentially grow as each Regional WLTI Team will be responsible for training a minimum of 50 new WLTI participants from 15-20 churches totally 250 WLTI graduates at the completion of Phase II.

When you invest in a leader, the positive impact is multiplied across their communities and the country of Rwanda.

 WHY ARE WE SO EXCITED?

ALARM recognizes the key role that women play in positively transforming their communities. The saying “educate a woman and you educate a community” has been tried and tested over and over again.

Women across the continent of Africa have often been marginalized and sidelined as a result of socio-cultural beliefs, political circumstances and traditionally patriarchal leadership systems that have excluded them. However, the resilience and strength of many of these women, despite extreme hardship, is creating vital space for them to play a significant role in the transformation of Africa through leadership, economic development, peace building and self-sufficiency.

We truly believe that investing in these women will not only transform the spiritual climate and legacy of Rwanda, but will also reach Africa and the world.

EMPOWERING WOMEN

Women have always played a vital role in our world.  Women are strong, smart and full of potential and promise.  However, in many places women and girls face incredible obstacles.  In some cases their health and well-being are in danger due to various systems of injustice and inequality.  Education and economic opportunities vary greatly.

It is our firm belief that God has called us to step toward each other.  To celebrate the advances we are seeing and support each other through the challenges.  We believe as we link arms and stand with other our world will be changed.

Margaret Mead said this:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have.

We wholeheartedly agree and are seeing evidence of this becoming a reality.

We believe when women come together and commit to walking alongside one another the world becomes a better place for all.

African Women's Leadership Training is designed to strategically connect women in order to raise awareness of the realities of injustice and pain in our world and empower women be catalysts for change.

ALARM

African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries

ALARM stands for African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries. We are an African led and African based organization that focuses on equipping leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to truly transform their communities.

With the help of friends and partners ALARM has trained over 100,000 leaders across east and central Africa in biblical theology, conflict resolution, forgiveness, mediation, leadership skills, and reconciliation. ALARM’s programs are designed for grass roots church and community leaders, women, youth, government officials, teachers, military professionals and Christian professionals (lawyers, police and chaplains).

Many of the countries we serve in have had years of war, tribal conflict, genocide and political turmoil. ALARM believes that the transformation and development of Africa rests in the hands of Africans who have been effectively equipped to lead, bring about peace and maintain stability. ALARM therefore focuses on equipping Africans through training, to transform communities through servant leadership and the Christian message of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Through their training programs ALARM develops leaders, reconciles relationships and transforms communities.
